Art sales benefit local artists and the Gardiner Library.
The Diner Project is an exhibition of black-and-white photographs taken in Cambridge, MA, in the mid-1070's, a time in American labor history when a blue-collar job could support a family and was yours for a lifetime.
Enter and meet the staff and regulars of Russ's Kitchenette Diner, a tightly knit community that embraced joy and laughter in the face of encroaching urban renewal, shifting race relations, and upheaval in America's place in the world.
Andrew's career arc has taken him to unexpected places. Instead of becoming a filmmaker, he co-founded a sports marketing startup at age 23. Five years later, he took a job in advertising. Three years later he left the corporate world and became an executive coach - a career he continues to enjoy. His collection of hundreds a Diner photos moved with him six different times and had been given up for lost decades ago. In 2023, he rediscovered them in a large unmarked box in the basement and it has been his profound pleasure to introduce us the men and women of Russ's Kitchennette Diner.
Tiny Roost Gallery
Roost
Studios has created a fresh way to show, see, experience and interact
with art outside the traditional gallery or museum model. Roost worked
with Ryan Solomons, a 3-D fabrication design artist to make the first Tiny Roost: Art on the Outside gallery installed outside the Gardiner Library.
The tiny gallery is a 24"x 36" moveable clear art gallery box that sits on a 36" high steel and wood base. It is weatherproof, powered by solar energy, and has both permanent and changeable signage, LED lighting and audio capability. It will house rotating exhibitions by various artists focusing on a variety of relevant themes.
