Read to a certified therapy dog! This program helps to improve children's reading, communication, and confidence in a relaxed and stress-free environment. For readers in elementary school. Sign up for a 15-minute time slot. Children may bring a book from home or choose a book from the library's collection.

April 12 - Perler Art Designs
Come to our Perler Party! Thousands of Perler beads and a variety of templates are available to create original designs. A fun way to get into the spring spirit. For ages 4 and up.
May 17 - Friendship Bracelets
Spend the afternoon at the library with beads and friends. Design bracelets to wear and share. Fun for all using a variety of different styles to create unique wearable art. Recommended for ages 4 and up.


 

Beginner Chinese Language for Kids
Sundays (meets weekly) through May 4
10:30 - 11:30 AM

Beginner Chinese language class for kids, ages 3-12. Learn Chinese vocabulary and numbers through song, books and games.

Amy Zhao's mother tongue is Chinese and she speaks Mandarin and Cantonese. Amy is certified by the International Profession Certification Association (IPA) as a Chinese language teacher.


Story Time with Jason
First Saturday of the month (no storytime in May)
10:30 - 11:15 AM

Come join Jason and his one-man band in his 45min program for all ages and ideal for families with 3-7yr-olds filled with interactive songs and stories on a theme.

No registration required.

At the root of all Jason’s shows and classes is an invitation for the attendees to play. Whether it is performing stories & songs with his one-man band, or performing with interactive theater companies Trusty Sidekick or Live-In Theater at Lincoln Center, Park Avenue Armory, or the New York Historical Society, or finally in a classroom as a teaching artist leading his game based music workshops with New Victory Theater or Brooklyn Music Factory, getting the participants to play is always the top priority. With his background in Early Childhood Education, it’s a treat for the youngest ones to hear him bring stories to life.

Gardiner Library children’s librarian, Amy Laber (“Miss Amy”) has been teaching early childhood music classes throughout the Hudson Valley for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in both Psychology and Music Therapy and has also received NYS Certification in Music K-12. With positive energy and a love for her craft, Amy brings a special sense of warmth and patience to all her classes.
