What do I need to get a library card?
We serve people who pay taxes to support the library. Proof of residence is required. We also issue cards to people who work or do business in Gardiner.

Do you have WiFi available?
We have 3 PC desktops and four PC laptops for patron use or you can use your own computer to access our wireless network. Visitors as well as cardholders are welcome to use this service.

Can I print from the computers?
You can print from the library computers. If you wish to print from your laptop, you will probably need to download the drivers for our printers.

Can I make photocopies and send faxes at the library?
You can use our photocopy machine for .20 per page (.10/pg if 10 or more copies; .05/pg if you bring your own paper) and send and receive faxes for $1 per page within the 845 area code ($2/pg outside the area code).

How long can I borrow materials?
Books, audiobooks, and music cds are loaned for three weeks. DVDs, VHS and magazines are loaned for one week. Patrons may borrow 3 DVDs and VHS at a time. Items from other libraries are subject to the home library’s lending policy.

Do you have a card catalog and how can I use it?
Yes and no! We no longer have a physical card catalog, but you can search for library materials from any computer in the library or through the library website from home. Ask a staff member. We also have a dedicated computer for searching the catalog.

How do I order items from other libraries?
You can ask at the library circulation desk or phone a staff member who will assist you. Or you can do it yourself by clicking on the “search the catalog’ button on the upper left of the pages of this website.

Do you have a community room?
Yes. There are constantly things happening in it.

Does the Gardiner Library have magazines? newspapers?
We subscribe to over 50 magazines, which can be borrowed for one week. We also subscribe to New Paltz Times, Bluestone Press, Midhudson Times, Wallkill Valley Times, Shawangunk Journal, Times-Herald Record and New York Times, which may be read in the library.

Can I get books electronically?

Can I borrow music from the library?
We have over 1000 music CDs in our Collection. Styles of music range from Bach to Bob Dylan, from Jazz and Latin to World music and beyond. We have a collection of Children's music in the Children's section. If we don’t have the music you’re looking for at the library, we can order CDs from other libraries in the RCLS system. (We welcome donations of CDs to add to our growing collection.)

Do you have Large Print materials?
The Large Print books are located near the West wall. Large Print editions of many books can also be borrowed from other libraries in our library system.

Do you have any career services?
We have an expanding number of books about careers, resumes, cover letters and interviewing in our Job Seekers section. We also offer workshops and talks for job seekers. Our computers are also available for searching “help wanted” websites, completing online applications and printing resumes and cover letters (free of charge).

Where can I find the new releases and bestsellers?
The octagonal book display to the right of the circulation desk features new fiction, biography, nonfiction and bestsellers. We order new books once per month and welcome your requests and suggestions.
